Holiday Makeup: Office Look into Nighttime Glamour

To continue with our Holiday Makeup series with NYC-based makeup artist Yumi Kaizuka, my good friend Narayana graciously agreed to stop by at our Ladies’ Day in Luncheon to get some professional tips and advice on how to transition her makeup from day into night. Narayana is a young professional woman who just loves to entertain after work in her Upper East Side apartment.  She always wears beautiful daytime makeup to work which only highlights her natural Brazilian beauty.  Since Narayana’s entertaining takes place after work, Yumi showed her some tips and tricks on how to transition from office-to-after-hours glamour. THE LOOK: Natural lip, little cheek, glam eyes. Holiday Makeup.Revive the complexion. THE FACE: To achieve the look start with the face. Revive the complexion by using a tiny little bit of the foundation to even out the skin tone and illuminate the shine. It will refresh the face and create an instant glow. Or simply spray the face with the mist water and smooth out the already smudged foundation, especially around the fine lines and wrinkles. Create the base.Smoky eye makeup. EYES: For beautiful dark brown eyes like Narayana’s, smoky eyes are a must! For a nighttime smoky eye makeup, Yumi used Maybelline Eyestudio color Tattoo Metal 24HR cream-gel shadow in 25 Bad to the Bronze and dark brown pencil as a base. Swipe on the eye shadow. “Since this is a nighttime glam look, let’s have some fun to look sexier”, joked makeup artist Yumi Kaizuka. To build some depth on top of Narayana’s day time office eye makeup, she swiped a subtle layer of the dark-reddish brown shade of Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eye Shadow 39 Raffinement eye shadow (bottom, right palette), moving with the brush from the crease to outer corner of eye.  Smoky eye makeup. TIP: Enhance the color of your eyes with the shades that fit you!  If you have brown eyes, opt for eye shadows with either rich autumnal colors, like browns and golds or even use some blues and forest greens to really bring out different hues of hazelnut and brown in your eyes. For blue or light gray-colored eyes, go for the copper (my personal favorite!) and golds or even amethyst and royal purple eye shadows for captivatingly beautiful effect! Use metallic blue eye shadow for the bottom eyelashes. Touch up the eyeliner. “Don’t forget to touch up your eyeliner”, reminds Yumi. Simply redrew (Narayana was wearing black liner already for her daytime office look) the black eyeliner on top of the existing one, Yumi suggests to try Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen eyeliner Midnight blue eye shadow for the daring look. For a glamorous daring look, opt for the metallic cream-gel shadow in midnight blue from Maybelline Eyestudio Color Tattoo 24hr in 75 Electric Blue. Line the bottom lashline with this vibrant blue shade. It creates beautiful unexpected contrast and makes the eyes stand out! Smoky eye makeup. To accentuate the evening drama, use a fresh coat of mascara for some extreme lash volume and curl. Smoky eye makeup. Smoky eyes makeup. LIPS & CHEEKS: To balance this strong look, Yumi kept the lips and cheeks very natural with just a dab of sheer warm-colored lipgloss on top. For the blush, Chanel Joues Contraste in 99 Rose Petale and Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Natural Moisturizing Soft Shine Lipstick in 39 Soft Apricot for Narayana’s lips. Pistachio, Coconut & Lime Cake.Pistachio, Coconut & Lime Cake. “Makeup is like an accessory. Don’t be scared and just play with it”, proclaims Yumi Kaizuka while finishing the look.  Three beautiful ladies at a luncheon + professional makeup artist’s advice = three gorgeous looks to rock this Holiday Season!
