Restaurant: Epicerie by Daniel Boulud
Cuisine: French Bistro
Location: Lincoln Square, Upper West Side
My favorite place to hang out on a weekend afternoon and have oysters, Jamon and beer.
Epicerie Boulud is the most ingenious establishment in Lincoln Center neighborhood. Chef Daniel Boulud launched this bistro few years back and it has been a huge success ever since. Last time I asked he mentioned that they average more than 15,000 transactions each day. Everything from freshly baked breads (try Pain au Levain) and assortment of delicious, delicate pastries (everything with stone fruit when in season is my favorite). Soft fruit on ballerina-waist-thin crisp pastry is simply D-E-L-E-C-A-B-L-E to the most extensive selection of charcuterie and artisanal cheeses, everything is great. Want something to go? There are plenty of perfectly portioned one-of a kind vegetable salads and classics like Tuna Nicoise.
The raw bar is great. Have some fun with oysters freshly shucked in front of you (served after 4 pm on weekday).
Munch on difficult to find Jamon Iberico chased by a draft beer or a wine from their excellent selection.
LOOK: mix of lace-feminine bottom and rough leather jacket paired with classic Stan Smith tennis shoes.
